FAQs
Can I Walk to Punta Mita Town?
No. Punta Mita Town is a great place to explore on foot once you’re there. Casa Carey is about a 15-minute drive from all the amazing restaurants, galleries, and shops that Punta Mita has to offer.
There’s also a scenic cobblestone walking path from the house to the beach, which takes about 30 minutes. The entrance is through the W Hotel and requires an access card provided during your stay.
Is the Pool Private and Temperature Regulated?
Yes, the pool is private, located on the property, and not shared. It is also heated during the winter months for your comfort.
Are Taxis/UBER/Lyft Available in the Area?
Punta Mita isn’t fully remote, but it is located away from the busier areas like Bucerías and Puerto Vallarta. As a result, popular ride-sharing apps like Uber or Lyft do not operate consistently in the area.
Where is the beach in relation to the house?
Punta Tortugas beach is within walking distance of the house. While it’s a beautiful and quiet spot, it’s a rocky shoreline and not always ideal for swimming. Though with some luck and the right tide, patches of sand appear where you may be able to enjoy a swim.
Guests can also access the beach in front of the W Hotel with a dining reservation to their restaurant Chevycheria. Please note that use of W Hotel facilities requires a day pass, which is not included in your stay.
For the best beach experience, we recommend Destiladeras Beach—just a 5-minute drive away. It’s our personal favorite for its soft sand and swimmable waters. Our concierge will gladly coordinate transportation for you, or you're welcome to drive yourself if you have a rental car.
How to Get Around?
There are a few great options for getting around during your stay:
Car Rental: Highly recommended for flexibility and convenience. Our guests have had great experiences with Gecko Car Rental — they’re reliable, friendly, and easy to work with.
Private Transportation: We work with trusted local drivers who also service the W Hotel. Vehicles are clean and comfortable (usually Suburbans), and Sprinter vans are available for larger groups. Rates typically include a 3-hour wait time, ideal for dining or short excursions.
• Approx. 5,000 pesos round-trip to Puerto Vallarta
• Approx. 3,000 pesos to Sayulita during the day
Night trips may cost more. Tips not included.
Is the Grocery Store near Casa Carey?
If you'd rather shop for your own groceries, that's totally fine! There are a couple of well-stocked local markets right in downtown Punta Mita, perfect for travelers—they carry everything from fresh produce to snacks, sunscreen, and even spirits. For a larger selection, you’ll also find three full-size grocery stores in the area, all within a 30-minute to 1-hour drive from the house. Whether you’re planning a full week of meals or just picking up a few favorites, you’ll have plenty of convenient options nearby.
What Makes Casa Carey Special?
Guests consistently praise Casa Carey’s spacious, thoughtfully designed layout, peaceful location, and warm, personalized service. With ocean views, a private pool, daily housekeeping, and beautifully prepared meals by our in-house cook, the home offers a level of comfort and hospitality that quietly rivals far more expensive options—delivering a true sense of understated, affordable luxury just minutes from Punta Mita’s finest beaches, restaurants, and shops.
What is the Approximate Amount I Would Need for Groceries During a Stay?
Grocery costs vary depending on your group size and how many meals you'll enjoy at home. As a reference, a recent group of 9 adults over 4 days spent approximately $1,200 USD, while another group of 7 guests, including children, over 5 nights spent around $1,794 USD. Both groups enjoyed two thoughtfully prepared meals per day, including drinks and desserts. If a private chef is hired, this may influence the overall grocery budget. Our concierge is committed to sourcing high-quality ingredients while adapting to your preferences and dietary needs.
Please note: These are real examples, and actual costs may vary based on group size, ingredient selection (such as organic or imported items), and beverage preferences.
